Arts in the Dark Parade
Celebrate Balinese culture by experiencing CBG's performance in the dark on baleganjur, marching gamelan! The Arts in the Dark Parade features arts organizations from throughout Chicago. The parade runs along State Street, starting at Lake and ending at Van Buren.
In Bali, outdoor ceremonies honor the balance and coexistence of people and nature. While people of the village create flower offerings on banana leaves, the sounds of gamelan music, the traditional bronze instruments of Bali, can be heard, travelling over miles of rice paddies. In this outdoor performance, Chicago Balinese Gamelan celebrates the Balinese values of recognizing and revering nature and Mother Earth.
Sponsored by the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks program. Performance is free and open to families of all ages.
